Next Match: at home to AC Milan, January 27 Atalanta head coach Stefano Colantuono continues to blame implausible incidents for his side's recent run of bad luck. The Nerazzurri were still smarting from Sergio Floccari's suspected handball that preceded his goal in a 2-0 win for Lazio when Michele Canini bundled the ball into his own net to give Cagliari the lead last time out. Guglielmo Stendardo scored at the right end to earn Atalanta a point but Colantuono is enduring a frustrating period. He said: "You prepare well for the game and then you find yourself behind due to a bizarre goal, so we had to become more clinical and clear-minded. Other than that we played a great game." Atalanta's task was made all the more difficult when recent loan signing Luigi Giorgi was dismissed late on, and he will be suspended against AC Milan. "We had a few chances in the first half, then we managed to equalise, and we could even have found something at the end despite going down to 10 men," Colantuono added. "We are not having a lot of luck at the moment. We are paying the price for a few incidents that have gone against us, it's part of the game and sometimes they fall for us, but we are battling towards survival and will achieve it." Gian Bellini, Guido Marilungo, Ezequiel Schelotto and Stefano Lucchini are missing through injury as the Orobici look to claim an unlikely double over Milan, following September's unlikely 1-0 triumph at the San Siro. Atalanta have not achieved such a feat since the 2007-08 campaign. |
