Next Match: at home to Borussia Dortmund, November 08 Europe: UEFA Europa League (Group L) Werder Bremen was hoping to seal its passage to the last 32 of the Europa League Thursday with victory over Austria Vienna to enable it to focus its attention for the rest of 2009 on the Bundesliga. Should results go Bremen's way, a win over Vienna would put them into the next round and that is the aim. "With ten points, we would look very good," said midfielder Timo Borowski. "Our aim is to win." Borowski will have even more responsibility in the Bremen midfield for the next few games since Torsten Frings has picked up an injury which leaves him out for the foreseeable future. Aaron Hunt's last-gasp goal against Nurnberg at the weekend has extended Bremen's unbeaten record to 17 matches. |
