Next Match: away to Hannover 96, May 09 Eintracht president Peter Fischer has given his backing to under-fire coach Friedhelm Funkel and insists he will be remaining in charge next season. Funkel has had to deal with an "injury curse" this season which he claims "would have relegated most teams", but not Frankfurt. This is why Fischer is satisfied with the coach's work, even if his club is not yet mathematically safe from relegation. "I cannot see there being a discussion about the coach in the summer," said Fischer. "Friedhelm Funkel has reached all of the aims he has been set in recent years. He has achieved results which we have not seen in 15 years," he added in the Frankfurter Neue Presse. "Our aim this season was to finish 9th or 10th and we would have done so had we not had such an injury curse." |
