Georgia football final: No. 1 Bulldogs survive upset-minded Missouri, improve to 5-0
COLUMBIA, Mo.— It took 56 minutes for Georgia to take the lead, but they didn't relinquish it.
The No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs survived a four-quarter fight against Missouri and put the Tigers away, 26-22 to improve to 5-0 on the season and 2-0 in SEC play.

10:38 p.m.: Georgia football gets its first lead with 4 minutes left
After a few big throws from Stetson Bennett, Daijun Edwards breaks the plane to give Georgia their first lead of the game. Podlesny's extra point is good and the Bulldogs lead 26-22 with 4:03 in regulation.
10:23 p.m.: Finally Georgia football scores a touchdown
On a 1st-and-goal from the 1, Kendall Milton plowed forward up the middle for the Bulldogs' first touchdown of the game. Georgia trails Missouri 22-19 with less than 10 minutes in regulation.
10:15 p.m.: Missouri extends lead over Georgia football
There have been a combined nine field goals in the contest, as Missouri's Harrison Mevis converts a 56-yard field goal. Tigers lead 22-12 with 14:09 remaining in the fourth quarter.
10:04 p.m.: Georgia football tacks on another field goal
Once again, the Bulldogs had a 1st-and-goal, but were hurt by a false start penalty and incompletions. Jack Podlesny's fourth field goal of the night, a 29-yard kick, makes it a 19-12 game.
9:53 p.m.: Missouri retakes two-score lead
Missouri's Harrison Mevis gives the Tigers a 19-9 lead with a 52-yard field goal with 4:31 left in the third quarter.
9:47 p.m.: Georgia football cuts into Missouri lead with field goal
A nice-looking Georgia drive stalls in the red zone and they settle for a 28-yard Jack Podlesny field goal, his third of the night. It's 16-9 Tigers with less than six minutes in the third quarter.
9:35 p.m.: Georgia football junior lineman out for game
Junior defensive lineman Jalen Carter is ruled out with a knee injury, per SEC Network. Carter saw limited action in the past two games with an ankle injury.
9:12 p.m.: Georgia football settles for field goal before half
Jack Podlesny with his second field goal of the game. This one was from 34 yards as time expired. Bulldogs trail 16-6 at halftime. Wow.
8:56 p.m.: Tackle saves touchdown and Missouri gets field goal
Malaki Starks tackle at the 1-yard line on a 63-yard Cody Schrader run led to a Missouri 22-yard Harrison Mevis field goal with 3:16 to go in the first half. Tigers led 16-3.
8:45 p.m.: Georgia Bulldogs get on scoreboard on Jack Podlesny field goal vs Missouri football
Georgia wanted more, but Missouri's defense after giving up a big pass play to Brock Bowers held the Bulldogs to a 40-yard Jack Podlesny field goal. Missouri leads 13-3 with 6:36 to go in the second quarter.
8:39 p.m.: Missouri Tigers open 13-0 lead over No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs
Harrison Mevis has a strong leg. He showed that again by booting a 49-yard field goal to give Missouri a 13-0 lead with 8:53 to go in the first half.
8:23 p.m.: Missouri Tigers jump to 10-0 lead over No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs
Brady Cook hit wide open Tyler Stephens on a 10-yard touchdown pass on the right side. Georgia is reeling down 10-0 with 12:43 to go in the first half.
8:06 p.m.: Missouri Tigers grab early lead on field goal
Missouri kicker Harrison Mevis drilled a 41-yard field goal to give Missouri a 3-0 lead with 4:11 to go in the first quarter. Tigers QB Brady Cook is 7 of 8 for 54 yards.
7:57 p.m.: Georgia football offense gets off to slow start
Nearing midway point of the first quarter, Georgia's offense has two three-and-outs and a lost fumble by running back Kendall Milton. The defense has held strong to stop any damage. Stetson Bennett is 0 for 2 passing so far, but Ladd McConkey just dropped a third down pass.
7:07 p.m.: Georgia football DB Javon Bullard suspended, but two others in secondary notably here
Smart never announced it but nickel back Javon Bullard is indeed serving a suspension after his DUI arrest Sunday. Cornerback Nyland Green (hamstring) and West Virginia transfer Tykee Smith, who could start in place of Bullard, are warming up. Smith didn't play last week.
6:56 p.m.: TE Arik Gilbert is on travel squad
Georgia tight end Arik Gilbert, it turns out, is on the trip. He's wearing grey sweats on the sideline. Smart obviously saw value in having him on the 70-player travel roster even thought he's apparently not playing.
6:52 p.m.: RB Kenny McIntosh of Georgia Bulldogs on field pregame
Georgia running back Kenny McIntosh, despite a report this week that cast doubt on whether he'd make the trip, is dressed out and in line with returners for pregame warmups. McIntosh left the Kent State win late with what he called a quad contusion.
“He just got a clean shot on it," Smart said. "It’s just a little bruise.”
6:28 p.m.: Checking on Georgia Bulldogs TEs pregame and update on Arik Gilbert
Four tight ends were working on field more than an hour before kickoff with position coach Todd Hartley. They were Brock Bowers, Darnell Washington, Oscar Delp and Ryland Goede.
Absent from that group is Arik Gilbert who presumably isn't on the trip. Smart said this week Gilbert is practicing but didn't indicate he's about to return to games.
“He’ll be day-to-day each day," Smart said of a player who missed last season due to personal reasons. "Hoping he can help us this year.”
6:14 p.m.: Georgia Bulldogs WR Arian Smith looks ready
Georgia wide receiver Arian Smith came out of the tunnel looking anxious to play, bouncing up and down as he reached the far end zone. Smith has yet to play this season after undergoing high ankle surgery in August. He's going through pregame work with the other wide receivers.
“There’s not a lot of people with his type of speed,” offensive tackle Warren McClendon said. “Having him on the field is definitely a good weapon for us. He’s coming back good. He’s going to get back healthy. Can’t wait to have him.”
6:07p.m.: Georgia football WR AD Mitchell working pregame on field
Georgia wide receiver A.D. Mitchell is working pregame on the field with strength and conditioning coach Scott Sinclair. Mitchell may still not play, but the fact that he is on the trip is an encouraging sign since he's been sidelined with an ankle injury.
5:26p.m.: Georgia Bulldogs vs. Missouri Tigers referee and UGA game captains
The referee tonight is SEC veteran official Matt Loeffler. Georgia’s game captains: Tight end Brock Bowers, inside linebacker Jamon Dumas-Johnson, safety Dan Jackson and wide receiver Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint.
5:08 p.m.: Night time is the right time for Georgia football vs. Missouri
We don’t know when Georgia will have a night home game next, but the Bulldogs finally get a night game tonight here at what will be 6:30 p.m. CT and 7:30 p.m. ET.
“I think everybody’s really excited for it,” offensive guard Tate Ratledge said. “We haven’t had one yet. It’s been a while. Night games are a big deal for everyone. For the fans of other teams, our fans, our players. It’s a great environment to be able to go play.”
Missouri played three straight 12 p.m. ET games including last week in its OT loss to Auburn.
“The biggest difference for us is the amount of time there is leading up to the game,” Smart said. “We've had two of these really, you know, wake up, eat, go play. And this is the reverse of that. So you got to work off of different kind of mindset and approach to it.
