Zionsville competes at Indoor HCC

Mar. 6—The track and field teams of the HCC got together at the brand new Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion at the State Fairgrounds on Wednesday night for their indoor conference championship.

The meet also served a qualifying opportunity for the Hoosier State Relays.

The Zionsville boys placed third with 82.50 points, finishing behind HSE (96) and Brownsburg (92).

The boys got three wins on the day.

Christian Barth won the 60-meter dash in 6.92 seconds. The Eagles also got a win from the 4x800 team of Dominick Dell, Jack Turnbull, John Bailey and Evan Mayo, who finished in an indoor conference record of 7:57.19.

The 4x200 relay team of Barth, Cam Mullens, Ben Shuster and Parker Rausch won in 1:30.88.

The 4x400 team of Mullens, Bailey, Mayo and Mason Nicholson placed third in 3:29.60.

Sam Spees was third in the 3,200-meter run in 9:32.73. Mason Nicholson was fourth in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.68. Fin Essley was third in the shot put with a throw of 51-feet-1.50-inches.

Ryan Skura was seventh in the high jump, clearing 5-feet-10-inches.

The boys distance medley relay team of Elijah Bineyard, Seth Copner, Elijah Weaver and Michael Schilson placed eighth in 11:00.64.

The girls team placed eighth.

Laurel Powell was second in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.48 seconds. Mary Stone was seventh in the event of 11.19.

Omema Anyanwu was fifth in the 60-meter dash in 7.85 seconds. Moriah Henry was eighth in the event in 8.01.

The 4x800 relay team of Lucille Unroe, Megan Race, Audrey Magnusen and Maddie Bruns placed fifth in 10:07.39.

The girls DMR team of Katherine Bowen, Anwesha Mishra, Mackinsey Heagy and Katy Green placed fourth in 12:37.68.

The girls 4x400 team of Anyanwu, Abby McClure, Alyssa Molinaro and Lilly Abney placed eighth in 4:14.43.

Ava Shipman was seventh in the high jump, clearing 4-10.

Madison Merrell was fourth in the pole vault, clearing 9-9, with Abigail Deaton fifth after clearing 9-3.

Megan Whinnery was sixth in the shot put, throwing 32-feet-9.50-inches.

Zionsville will have another indoor qualifier at UIndy on March 16.
