The Duke Blue Devils are taking it easy with their star freshman, as Zion Williamson will sit out a second straight game.

Head coach Mike Krzyzewski spoke to the media on Monday and confirmed that Williamson will not play in Tuesday’s game against the No. 20 Virginia Tech Hokies as he recovers from his Grade 1 right knee sprain.

Williamson hurt his knee in the opening minute of Wednesday’s loss to the then-No. 8 North Carolina Tar Heels. While dribbling and trying to reverse direction, Williamson’s foot busted through his Nike shoe, and he limped off the court.

Duke announced the following day that Williamson would be day-to-day with the injury, which was certainly welcomed news for its title hopes. However, the Blue Devils wrap up their conference schedule with a rather tough stretch.

After falling to North Carolina by 16 points without their best player, the Zion-less Blue Devils needed a second-half comeback to beat Syracuse on Saturday. And after Tuesday’s game against ranked Virginia Tech, they face the Miami Hurricanes and Wake Forest Demon Deacons before a rematch at UNC.

Williamson is a heavy favorite to be the top overall pick in the upcoming NBA draft, leading some to suggest that he sit out the rest of the year. He’s already proven his talent with ridiculous dunks to go with his 21.6 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 2.2 steals and 1.8 blocks per game.
