Despite all the missing players due to COVID-19, the Jets pulled off the win over the similarly-woeful Jaguars Sunday thanks to some solid offensive performances and adequate defense.

The Jets’ quick legs were on full display as Zach Wilson, Braxton Berrios and Michael Carter enjoyed electric runs. The 26-21 win won’t help the Jets get a better draft pick, but it does help the team’s morale and development as the 2021 season winds down.

Here are the studs and duds from the Jets’ Week 16 win over the Jaguars.

Stud: QB Zach Wilson

This was a good bounce-back game for Wilson. He finished with only 191 total yards – 102 passing and 91 rushing – but he showed his athleticism through the air and on the ground. Wilson had an exciting 52-yard rushing score early in the game and added a passing touchdown in the fourth quarter. He completed 63.6 percent of his passes as well. The rookie still has issues to correct but played well against a bad defense.

Dud: Denzel Mims

Mims’ depressing second season continued against the Jaguars. The Jets were down their top three receivers but Mims still couldn’t manage one catch on two targets. He had a huge drop on fourth-and-two at the end of the first half that cost the Jets points. Sunday was the third consecutive game Mims didn’t record a reception.

Stud: WR/KR Braxton Berrios

(Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports)

Berrios’ big highlight of the game was his 102-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the second quarter, but he also led the team with 37 yards and five receptions. He’s been a sparkplug for the Jets all year and continued that trend against the Jaguars.

Dud: CB Brandin Echols

(Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports)

Echols didn’t have a good game in coverage. He committed a bad pass interference call early in the game, another defensive holding call that was declined, and gave up a couple of chunk players throughout the contest. Consistent coverage remains a major point of emphasis for Echols’ development after his thrilling pick-six last week.

Stud: RB Michael Carter

The rookie running back exploded in his second game back from injury and finished with a career-high 118 rushing yards on 16 carries. Carter also caught two passes for six receiving yards. His future looks bright in New York.
