Zach Parise prevents Wild goal, then atones for it (Video)

Jake Allen of the St. Louis Blues was brilliant in Game 1 of their Central Division semifinal series on Wednesday night against the Minnesota Wild.

But during one sequence in the third period, he had help in keeping the puck out of his net … from one of the Wild’s star players.

With his team down 1-0, Zach Parise prevented his own teammate from scoring when his stick inadvertently cleared a puck that was headed over the goal line

Here’s the painful close-up:

Ugh.

But as Zach Parise taketh away, he also giveth.

Atoning for that unfortunate defensive effort on the part of the Blues, Parise sniped the game-tying goal with 22.7 seconds left in regulation, off a disgusting feed from the Wild’s Mikko Koivu:

Just like coach Bruce Boudreau drew it up, we imagine.
