Yuba County's own named Big Ten Freshman of the Week: Jenissa Conway hits .400 with 1.300 slugging percentage for Wolverines

Mar. 19—For the first time in nearly five years, the University of Michigan has received a conference Freshman of the Week.

On Monday, Olivehurst product and former Marysville High standout, Jenissa Conway was named Big Ten Conference Freshman of the Week, announced through the school and conference on Monday.

Conway, a true freshman out of Yuba County, is the first Wolverine to earn the honor since May 6, 2019.

Conway's week centered around a .400 batting average and 1.300 slugging at the Cardinal Classic where Michigan finished 3-1 with its lone loss coming to Louisville in a run-rule contest. Conway had two homers and four RBI against the Cardinals. Michigan improved to 17-11 and in sixth place in the Big Ten as of Tuesday. Michigan opens conference action at home Friday at 5 p.m. (Central Time) against Purdue.
