Younger Salme matches record, Pirates pull away from Chinooks in second half

Jan. 22—The Adna boys basketball team rode hot shooting from its freshmen to victory at home Monday, downing Kalama 72-54.

Trevin Salme scored 27 points and tied the Adna single-game record with nine 3-pointers, going 9 for 17 from beyond the arc. He finished the night by going 6 for 8 from long range in the second half, while fellow freshman Grayson Humphrey went 3 for 4.

Jens Neilson added 12 points, while Lane Johnson had eight rebounds and seven assists.

The Pirates only led by three points at halftime, but went on a 23-13 run in the third quarter thanks in large part to three triples from Trevin Salme and two from Humphrey.

The Pirates (13-4, 7-2 C2BL) will host Wahkiakum on Wednesday.
