How badly do Boston Red Sox fans want to beat the New York Yankees? Instead of worrying about the New England Patriots taking out the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday, fans at Gillette Stadium broke into a “Yankees suck” chant during the game.
The chant didn’t happen with the game tied, of course. Patriots fans waited until the game was mostly wrapped up to start looking ahead to Game 1 of the ALDS on Friday. With the Pats up 38-17 over the Indianapolis Colts late in the fourth quarter, fans could be heard chanting “Yankees suck” as the Colts had the ball.
While the Colts were able to score again, the team failed to mount a comeback. They wound up losing the contest 38-24.
After the game, even the emotionless Bill Belichick offered words of support for the Red Sox.

As for the Yankees, we’re sure any members of the team watching the game weren’t hurt by the chant. They should be used to getting hate in Boston.
By the Pats game Thursday night, the Yankees had already received plenty of grief from the people of Boston. The team drew the anger of a Boston union leader after staying in a hotel where workers are currently on strike.
Given the animosity between both sides, we’re guessing Red Sox fans are going to be even more creative with their chants during Game 1 on Friday.
