Earlier this week, Jim Callis of MLB Pipeline unveiled his list of the Top 10 outfield prospects in all of baseball heading into the 2021 season.

While some of the prospects have already gotten a taste of big-league ball, such as Tampa Bay’s Randy Arozarena, who had one of the most unbelievable power streaks in postseason history last year, some are still further away from the show.

The latter is the category where Yankees’ prospect Jasson Dominguez falls, with Callis offering an estimated leap to the majors in 2024, but nonetheless, the ultra-talented Dominguez still ranks eighth on the MLB Pipeline outfield list, ahead of Arozarena.

Callis also broke up the prospects by different tools and by superlatives, and the 17-year-old Dominguez was said to have both the “highest ceiling” and the “most to prove.”

“Signed for $5.1 million out of the Dominican Republic in July 2019, Dominguez is the most hyped and tooled-up international prospect in recent years,” Callis writes. “He has the potential for well above-average tools across the board and possesses the advanced instincts and skills to make the most of them.”

When explaining why Dominguez has the most to prove, Callis writes: “For all the hyperbole surrounding Dominguez -- and, yes, we'll mention yet again that he has been compared to outstanding baseball athletes such as Bo Jackson, Mickey Mantle and Mike Trout -- the fact remains that he has yet to play a pro game.”

Dominguez also cracked The Athletic’s Keith Law’s list of the Top 100 prospects in baseball earlier this week, coming in at No. 66.

Yankees fans are likely going to need to wait at least two-to-three more years before the power-hitting outfielder finally dons his pinstripes, but with all the attention that Dominguez is already receiving, it’s sure to be one of the more anticipated rookie debuts in team history, whenever it finally happens.
