'Yahoo Sports MLB Podcast': Albert Pujols, basebrawls and Bryce Harper's future

Just a dozen hits shy of becoming the 32nd member of Major League Baseball’s 3,000-hit club, Albert Pujols sat down with Tim Brown for a rare, extended interview in the debut episode of the “Yahoo Sports MLB Podcast.”

Looking back at his rise from poverty to his triumphant career, the Los Angeles Angels star expounded on everything from his love of the RBI to his distrust of new-wave hitting techniques, his work with special-needs children to the first home run of his life. Now in his 18th season, Pujols shrugs off the three MVP awards and 10 All-Star Game appearances as life-changing and instead looks in the mirror and sees no difference between today and his first season in 2001.

“Same guy,” he said. “Same attitude I have now. Same passion. Same work ethic, if not better.”

The interview with Pujols is just one highlight from the first episode of the podcast, in which Brown, Mike Oz and yours truly bring decades of experience from inside the clubhouse into a show that will run every Tuesday morning. Though the weekly interview with the biggest names in baseball will be the fulcrum on which the show balances, the banter and stories will abound, offering insight no other baseball podcast can.
