The PGA TOUR heads to another new course this week which means we need to do a bit more research rather than relying on a simple combination of recent form and course history.

Congaree Golf Club is a par 71 that stretches out past 7,600 yards. That is a lot of length, so the hope is that it plays firm and fast as it is designed to play.

As you can imagine with all that length, bogey trains can add up quickly if you are straying too far from the fairway.

On top of that, we can look at the turf to see what golfers have the go-low ability in their back pocket due to their tendency to gain strokes putting on bermudagrass.

Let's open up the NBC Sports Edge Driver and see if we can find some good targets for building Yahoo Daily Fantasy lineups.

Bermudagrass Putting

When searching for big-finish upside, one angle to look for is the ability to putt the lights out.

Ball-striking is a more reliable week-to-week metric when it comes to finding golfers to make it through the cutline, but sometimes you need to take a gamble on a mediocre striker that leans heavily on the flat stick.

Using the NBC Sports Edge Driver, we can look at all rounds played on bermudagrass greens since the start of the 2019 season, here are the top performers in strokes gained putting, at a per-round level (20-round minimum):

Dominic Bozzelli
Matthew Fitzpatrick
Johnson Wagner
J.T. Poston
Patton Kizzire
Brooks Koepka
Sungjae Im
Peter Uihlein
Ian Poulter
Rhein Gibson
David Hearn
Kevin Kisner
Chesson Hadley
Andrew Putnam
Austin Cook

Patton Kizzire ($32): The Auburn product gets the job done with standout iron play combined with elite putting. That putter does its best work when performing on bermudagrass surfaces. Looking at his three most recent events played, he has racked up 54 birdies and an eagle in 10 rounds played. He is really finding a way to circle birdies in bunches lately.

Bogey Avoidance

We don't have years of data to lean on this week at Congaree but we can listen to pre-tournament press conferences to see how the course might play.

Today we heard from Congaree ambassador, Kevin Kisner, and he had this to say, "I'm looking forward to attacking the holes where I have short irons and then playing for par on the difficult holes. I think the idea of making less bogeys is a good idea around this golf course."

So, let's go with that and look at bogey avoidance compared to the field, in each golfers most recent 12 rounds played. This is called Strokes Gained - Bogey Avoid in the NBC Sports Edge Driver tool:

Hank Lebioda
Ben Martin
Brian Stuard
Tyrrell Hatton
Russell Knox
Bronson Burgoon
Bo Hoag
Sean O'Hair
Richard S. Johnson
Doc Redman
J.T. Poston
Dustin Johnson
Alex Noren
Sungjae Im
Satoshi Kodaira

Hank Lebioda ($20): We can grab the leader in recent bogey avoidance for the minimum salary this week on Yahoo. Not a bad option for gamers looking to save some salary to squeeze in some stars at the top.

Hopefully, these stats will give you some names to dive into when it comes to researching your final selections this week over at Yahoo!
