They don't make em' like they use to when it comes to golf course design.
This week the PGA TOUR heads to a classical design, Colonial Country Club, in Fort Worth, Texas.
The course was built in the 1930s and it still holds up today with modern equipment. Known for tight, tree-lined fairways and plenty of doglegs, power is not the number one source of success at Colonial Country Club.
So, for DFS purposes, we want to research some stats that may help us find some value plays that are well-suited for this unique venue.
To do that, we will hop over to the NBC Edge Driver tool and tweak some settings.
For our first stat filter, I will look at putting performance on bentgrass greens, which is what the pros will see at Colonial CC this week.
This will give us some names that could really pop as long as their ball-striking is field average or better.
Looking at all rounds played on bentgrass greens since the start of the 2019 season, here are the top performers in strokes gained putting, at a per-round level:
Sahith Theegala ($20): The youngster from Pepperdine has a small sample in the filtered stat list above, but he's still notable because he costs the minimum salary this week. Theegala arrives with six straight paydays on the Korn Ferry circuit and he gets another shot on the big stage. He did not disappoint in his last PGA TOUR appearance, posting a T14 at the Safeway Open last fall.

Colonial Country Club is one of the few courses on TOUR where accuracy off the tee is a big deal.
There aren't a lot of big numbers lurking but if you are missing more fairways than the field then you are likely in for a bogey-heavy type of day, or week.
Here are the golfers that have it on a string lately, looking at fairways gained over the last 12 rounds:
Abraham Ancer ($40): The Texan stormed up the board on Sunday at Kiawah Island and now he'll look to keep that momentum rolling as he heads back to his home state. He arrives as the most accurate driver in the field, as of late. Ancer settled for finishes of T52 and T58 in his first two tries at Colonial CC but he figured things out with a T14 last year.
Hopefully, these stats will give you some names to dive into when it comes to researching your final selections this week over at Yahoo!
