Caves Valley Golf Club is hosting this week's BMW Championship. It's their first time hosting a PGA TOUR event.
If you've played the course before then you may notice they flipped the nines for tournament play this week.
We are going to do the same here and look at Yahoo DFS on Tuesday instead of Wednesday since Yahoo is ahead of the game in terms of getting their salaries published quickly after the Monday finish at Liberty National.
Let's dive into the NBC Sports Edge Driver tool and see if we can find some fun course-fit stats that might help us uncover some DFS nuggets.
Regional Course Fit
Caves Valley is located in Maryland and features bentgrass greens.
Let's keep things simple and filter by Eastern Time Zone + Bentgrass Greens and see who plays well with those parameters.
Using the NBC Sports Edge Driver tool to run that filter, here are the top performers (strokes gained per round) since the start of the 2019 season:
Erik van Rooyen
Patrick Cantlay ($40): The California kid has won twice at Jack's Place, another venue in the region with generous fairways and speedy bentgrass greens. He's tossed together finishes of T23 or better in six of his last seven starts with a win thrown in along the way. He's not cheap at $40 but he won't break the bank, either, compared to some of the other big names in the field.

When I first went through the hole-by-hole layout this week at Caves Valley, the first thing that popped in my head was the length.
As a par 72 that stretches out to 7,542 yards, I think driving the ball long and far will make things a whole lot easier. That is the case nearly every week but I think it becomes even more important on a course layout like Caves Valley where there are lots of long par 4s and also shorter par 4s that big hitters can attack more easily.
Finding those great drivers should increase the number of eagle opportunities your team gets this week.
Using the NBC Sports Edge Driver tool again, here are the top performers in strokes gained off-the-tee per round, over the last 12 lead-in rounds:
Scottie Scheffler ($36): There aren't many better options when it comes to hunting for long and straight drivers. Scheffler ranks 36th in driving distance and 54th in driving accuracy this season. With that kind of firepower off the tee, it's no surprise to see that he ranks 6th in par breakers per round. He looks like a very solid option on Yahoo this week, priced below the $40 mark which makes him a strong tier-2 option.
Hopefully, these stats will give you some names to dive into when it comes to researching your final selections this week over at Yahoo!
