Looking for a way to learn PGA DFS without jumping in with both feet? We have a perfect solution for you. This year, Yahoo and Yahoo Fantasy are offering a $10,000 freeroll called the PGA “Yahoo Cup.” This contest awards a winner for weekly events and one winner at the end of the season who has the most cumulative points. That winner will receive $1,000. Ultimately, winning the Yahoo Cup comes down to picking the right golfers. Today I will provide my top three value PGA DFS picks based on Yahoo salary, a couple of lineup fill-ins, and two different fantasy golf lineup variations for making your PGA picks this week at the Travelers Championship.
New to PGA DFS? Awesemo is the only site with projections from the No. 1 daily fantasy player in the world. Right or wrong, it’s important to keep track of how the picks performed the week prior. Here are the players and my corresponding lineup from the U.S. Open
Jordan Spieth (19th)
Gary Woodland (50th)
Erik van Rooyen (Missed Cut)
Top Three Values for The Travelers Championship
Kevin Streelman ($29)
While he has had a few wins in the past, even Streelman would tell you how good of a season he’s having. He has made five straight cuts since the Valspar Championship, with his worst finish being 26th. He came in the top 15 in two majors during this stretch. Now coming to a course where he has a win and second-place finish in the past, it is worth taking advantage of his low salary in all fantasy golf formats. He is a great third or fourth guy in at this salary, providing a ton of flexibility to the lineup.
Aaron Wise ($26)
While the form hasn’t been quite as good as Streelman’s, Wise has only missed one cut since March. Since then, he has reeled off a couple of top-10s and four top-20s in just eight starts. That consistency seems like a steal for a $26 salary. Guido Migliozzi ($26) also looks good at the same salary if making multiple lineups or stacking them for a balanced lineup.
Will Gordon ($20)
There are at least four golfers at the minimum salary worth considering, and most other gamers do not know quite yet: Will Gordon, Davis Thompson, John Pak and Austin Eckroat. Kyle Stanley is also the minimum salary, but people know quite a bit about him by now. Instead, look to the four young guns competing this week. Gordon has his best finish as a pro at this course (third last year), and Thompson, Pak and Eckroat will be making their first few starts as professionals.
PGA DFS Yahoo Cup Lineup Fill-Ins
Bryson DeChambeau ($49)
Paul Casey ($42)
Doc Redman ($28)
PGA DFS Yahoo Cup Lineup Builds
This lineup is built to fit in both Bryson DeChambeau and Dustin Johnson. With them being the best in the field and both having good history at TPC River Highlands, it makes sense to get them in the same lineup.
Using Streelman instead of another minimum-salary golfer provides about $41 to spend on the remaining three golfers. Paul Casey and another star will fit in this lineup comfortably, so offers options for remaining PGA picks this week.
