Looking for a way to learn PGA DFS without jumping in with both feet? We have a perfect solution for you. This year, Yahoo and Yahoo Fantasy are offering a $10,000 freeroll called the “Yahoo Cup.” This contest awards a winner for weekly events and one winner at the end of the season who has the most cumulative points. That winner will receive $1,000. Ultimately, winning the Yahoo Cup comes down to picking the right golfers. Today I will provide my top three value PGA DFS picks based on Yahoo salary, a couple of lineup fill-ins and two different lineup variations for building lineups this week at the Charles Schwab Challenge.
New to PGA DFS? Awesemo is the only site with projections from the No. 1 daily fantasy player in the world. We also have loads of free content, including grades, rankings, leverage scores, and comprehensive articles like The Winning Element. Come visit the Awesemo PGA Home Page for all of our FREE content for the Charles Schwab Challenge.
Right or wrong, it’s important to keep track of how the picks performed the week prior. Here are the players and my corresponding lineup from the previous week.
Shane Lowry (Fourth)
Matt Wallace (55th)
Jordan Spieth (30th)
Top Three Values for The Charles Schwab Challenge
Richy Werenski ($21)
Quietly having an above-average season, Werenski flashed on the board last week through three rounds before settling into a tie for 38th with a Sunday 75. Still, when he gets on a run of made cuts, he peaks and ends up in the top 10. That could come sometime in the next couple of weeks, and the goal as DFSers is to time that right.
Joel Dahmen ($26)
It had been a quiet year for Dahmen up until the win the Dominican Republic, but that breakthrough set him up for a couple of years. Dahmen is a course-fit guy, and when his ball striking is in form at a course that he likes and putts well on, he will usually be in the top 20 come Sunday. Of golfers with salaries below $30, Dahmen is the fourth-highest projected player in the Awesemo PGA DFS projections, at 46.9 points.
Gary Woodland ($31)
With Emiliano Grillo also at this salary, he and Woodland provide tremendous value. Woodland is still a bit erratic off the tee as he tries to find his top form, but his irons have been quite good recently. Grillo has been around the leaderboard quite a bit this last month and a half and has a lot of value given his upside.
PGA DFS Yahoo Cup Lineup Fill-ins
Collin Morikawa ($45)
Jordan Spieth ($45)
Matt Wallace ($24)
PGA DFS Yahoo Cup Lineup Builds
This build should allow for pairing just about any three studs in the entire field save for maybe Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth and Collin Morikawa all together. Rostering two of those three is certainly viable, however.
Skipping out on Werenski and going with a more balanced build still leaves plenty of salary left over to get at least one of Spieth and Morikawa and a couple of other solid players in the lineup.
