After last year’s NFL Draft, there was one free-agent player that fans of most teams coveted: Clemson wide receiver Justyn Ross.

As a freshman for the Tigers in 2018, Ross had a 1,000-yard receiving season with nine touchdown catches. In the College Football Playoff national championship game, Ross caught six passes for 153 yards and a touchdown as Clemson crushed Alabama 44-16

The following year, Ross caught 66 passes for 865 yards and eight touchdowns. But Ross missed the 2020 season after being diagnosed with a congenital fusion in his spine. He had surgery to relieve pressure on his spine, as ESPN reported.

Ross played 10 games in the 2021 season while dealing with a stress fracture in his foot, catching 46 passes with 514 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

The spinal issue kept teams from drafting Ross a year ago and he had his pick of teams with which to sign. He chose the Chiefs and explained his reasons to the Star last year.

“Just having Pat Mahomes, great quarterback, Andy Reid, great coach,” Ross said. “The receiver room, it feels like a family here. I’ve only been here for like a day, but they treat me like family.”

Ross and Mahomes are already working together as they prepare for the 2023 season.

Starcade Media’s Noah Gronniger shared a video from Preston Smith Photography’s Instagram.

Over the past few weeks, there have been videos of Ross working out as he tries to make the Chiefs’ 53-man roster and bolster the wide receiver position.

Brad Henson Productions shared this video on Monday and Ross seems to be moving fine.
