To quote our very own Brad Evans (@YahooNoise), the Denver Broncos backfield situation this season has been “bewildering, perplexing, confusing to say the least.” Indeed, it has. The Broncos drafted Royce Freeman and added Phillip Lindsay as an undrafted free agent before the regular season. Many fantasy players imagined the talented Freeman being the bellcow-back with Lindsay getting a couple of touches here and there.
Things haven’t quite shaped out that way, though, six weeks through the fantasy season. Lindsay has been given the reigns while Freeman has been grossly underutilized in the Broncos offense. In fact, even Devontae Booker got in on the touches last week! Fantasy owners of both Lindsay and Freeman haven’t gotten much in the way of clarity thus far, but Brad thinks Week 7’s matchup against the Arizona Cardinals will make the whole situation irrelevant (at least for a week).
The Cardinals are so bad against the run (4.55 yards per carry allowed), they’ve given up the most fantasy points to opposing running backs this season. With bye weeks in full effect, Brad thinks both Lindsay and Freeman provide RB2 value in deep leagues this week.
