Worried about going to the movies? You can rent this entire theater in Miami for $99

So you’re dying to see Christopher Nolan’s new film “Tenet.” But you know COVID-19 is still a thing, and you don’t trust your fellow Miamians to keep their masks on and their phones off in the theater.

No problem.

At Silverspot Cinema in downtown Miami, you can rent a theater for you and your friends — or just yourself, if your friends are also jerks — for a private screening of “Tenet.” Or whatever movie you might like to see.

Here’s the deal, which is good through Sept. 30: It costs $99 to rent the theater, plus the cost of the ticket of every person who will attend. The $99 will then be applied to food and drink purchases. Despite Miami-Dade County’s rules against snacking in the theater, you’ll be able to order food like flatbreads and sandwiches as well as order from the cocktail, beer and wine menu.

There are no refunds if you don’t spend it all, but since $99 usually buys you a small popcorn, a box of Junior Mints and a small Coke, you should have no issues here. Because drinks.

And if you can’t find a new release you want to watch, Silverspot will allow you to stream a movie from one of the streaming services to which you subscribe. The auditorium rentals last for three hours so no, you can’t binge-watch all of “Game of Thrones” again, but if you choose to stream, you don’t have to pay for tickets. Just the $99.

You will need to wear a mask entering and exiting the theater, and Silverspot suggests wearing masks in the private screening rooms as well. Private screenings are limited to 20 people, half the capacity of the 40-person theaters, in accordance with Miami-Dade rules.
