Woodrow softball, Independence baseball pick up victories


Woodrow Wilson 15, Oak Hill 0, 3 innings

OAK HILL — Woodrow Wilson pounded out 16 hits and Oak Hill didn't have a baserunner through three innings in Woodrow's 15-0 win on Monday.

Brooke Bird and Kacie Fraley both had three hits for the Flying Eagles. Kyndal Dooley drove in three runs. Aubrey Smallwood, Bird, Fraley and Taylor Scott all had two RBIs.

Woodrow (4-3) will host Wyoming East Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

Sherman 10, Liberty 1, 5 innings

Sherman scored five runs in the third inning en route to a 10-1 win over Liberty in Glen Daniel.

Lauren Guthrie was 4 for 4 with a home run, double and three runs batted in for the Tide (4-0). Savannah Drake also drove in three runs for Sherman, which finished with 13 hits.

McKinlea Hill drove in a run for the Raiders (4-3), which will host Oak Hill Tuesday at 6 p.m.


Independence 16, Oak Hill 9

Independence snapped a 9-9 tie with seven runs in the top of the seventh inning to defeat Oak Hill 16-9.

Oak Hill committed six errors that led to seven unearned runs on the night.

Cole Cunningham and Micah Cuthbert both drove in three runs for Independence. Carter Hajash, Degan Williams and Orion Wills all had two hits.

Trent Rider was 3 for 5 with a triple and two RBIx for Oak Hill. Owen Grose had three RBIs.
