Stop me if you have heard this before, social activism in sports is dominating headlines today. Sunday saw a spike in athletes protesting divisiveness during the national anthem. This came in response to President Donald Trump’s comments in regards to both Stephan Curry voting against attending the traditional championship White House visit, and also comments that urged NFL owners to fire athletes who did not stand for the national anthem. On Sunday the Seattle Seahawks stayed in the locker room during the national anthem and walked onto the field with arms locked as a show of solidarity. This comes in wake of Michael Bennett’s accusations of misconduct towards the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police.
