"We appreciate CJ's contributions to our team this season and wish him and his family the best as he continues his career," said Wizards General Manager Tommy Sheppard in a team release.  "He is a consummate professional who provided a great example for our younger players despite having his season cut short by an unfortunate injury."

Injuries forced the hand of Sheppard, who's navigated the absences of key players all season including Miles, Bradley Beal, Davis Bertans, Mo Wagner, Isaiah Thomas, Rui Hachimura, Thomas Bryant and John Wall.

Miles was already expected to miss the rest of the 2019-20 season.

The Athletic reported that Pasecniks' new deal will be for three years. A 7-foot-1 center out of Latvia, Pasecniks has stepped up admirably for the Wizards amid their slew of injuries. In 13 games off the bench, he's averaged 8.2 points and 6.2 rebounds per contest.

"AP has worked tremendously hard with our coaching staff during his time in summer league, with the Go-Go and with the Wizards and his development has shown great progress," said Sheppard in a team release.  "He is following the path set by Jordan McRae last season and provides another example of our vision for developing players within our own system and the benefit of sharing our facility with the Go-Go."

With the added roster space, Washington was also able to re-sign Johnathan Williams to a two-way contract after waiving him Jan. 4.

Entering play Sunday, the Wizards are hopeful for the returns of Bryant (foot) and Beal (lower leg) to the rotation before taking on the Utah Jazz.
