Disney is the current king of the 2018 box office, thanks to hits such as Avengers: Infinity War, Black Panther, and Incredibles 2, and the studio hopes to continue its winning streak in August when it debuts Christopher Robin. After Cinderella, The Jungle Bookand Beauty and the Beast, Marc Forster’s film is yet another instance of the studio creating a live-action/CGI adaptation of one of its classic animated characters — in this case, Winnie the Pooh, who comes to digital life alongside all his famous friends as well as Ewan McGregor, here starring as the all-grown-up title character. Not to be confused with last year’s Goodbye Christopher Robin (which was more of an author biopic/origin story), Forster’s latest arrives in theaters next month. We are happy to announce that we have an exclusive featurette to whet your appetite for the upcoming premiere.

In Christopher Robin, McGregor stars as Winnie the Pooh’s young human best friend — although, as McGregor’s participation indicates, Christopher isn’t so young (or small) anymore. More problematic still, he’s lost the very sense of imagination that begat Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, Owl, Piglet, Rabbit, and Kanga. Think of it as a variation on Steven Spielberg’s jaded–Peter Pan saga, Hook. And as the above video clip makes clear, it’ll be rooted in the back-and-forth dynamic between McGregor’s adult and his honey-loving bear BFF, who’ll help Christopher learn to slow things down and “realize what’s important in our lives.” It’s advice that McGregor says is especially timely today, and comes from a character who’s known for his wisdom. As the actor says, “Pooh is the great philosopher.”

Co-starring Hayley Atwell and featuring the voices of Jim Cummings (Pooh and Tigger), Brad Garrett (Eeyore), Toby Jones (Owl), Nick Mohammed (Piglet), Peter Capaldi (Rabbit), and Sophie Okonedo (Kanga), Christopher Robin will look to bring some fantastical cheer to the summer multiplex when it debuts on Aug. 3.
