Wilson Central girls, Lebanon boys prevail

Mar. 23—GLADEVILLE — Wilson Central's girls opened their tennis season Tuesday with a 4-3 win over visiting Lebanon while the Blue Devils defeated the Wildcats 5-2.

Singles winners for the Lady Wildcats were Anindita Das over Meagan Bashour 6-1, 6-0 and Kathryn Busler over Izzy Walden 6-0, 6-0.

Central's doubles winners were Das and Busler over Bashour and Walden 8-6 and Sophia Davis and Molly Dillard over Bella Hankins and Ellie Shanks 8-2.

Lady Devil winners were Hankins over Addie Cranor 6-1, 7-6 (4); Shanks over Lillia Colebank 6-3, 6-4 and Kailah Wiggins over Davis 2-6, 6-3, 10-8.

Singles winners for Lebanon's boys were Jacob Rasinar over Cameron Sather 6-1, 6-1; Jackson Williams over Andrew Ionita 6-2, 6-1; Kelton Coffee over Aadhish Udayakumar 3-6, 6-2, 11-9 and Lelen Ramos over Will Sorvick 6-3, 6-2.

In doubles, the Blue Devils' Williams and Coffee beat Ionita and Tyler Lawrence 8-5.

Wilson Central winners were Alejandro Conde over Carter McCulloch 6-0, 6-0 and Conde and Sather over McCulloch and Rasinar 9-7.

Both Wilson Central teams followed Wednesday with 4-3 wins over visiting Blackman.

Singles winners for the Lady Wildcats were Cranor over Hadleigh Flowers 8-5, Colebank over Ana Santiago 8-5 and Davis over Sara Grace Oncale 8-2.

Davis and Dillard won their doubles match over Flowers and Santiago 8-3.

Lady Blaze winners were Ozge Yuksel over Das 8-4,Kise over Busler 8-3 and Yuksel and Kise over Das and Busler 8-4.

Like the girls, Wilson Central's boys were also most successful at the lower end of their lineups as Udayakumar defeated Mason McConnell 8-4, Sorvick stopped Langston Thaxton 8-3 and Lawrence beat Chris Jennings 8-2.

Lawrence and Sather won their doubles match 9-8 (5) over Thaxton and Payden Daniels.

Blackman winners were Antonio Yibirin over Sather 8-2, Daniels over Ionita 9-8 (2) and Allen Green and Will La over Ionita and Udayakumar 8-4.

Wilson Central traveled to Lafayette on Thursday for District 9-AA matches with Macon County. Both WCHS teams were shorthanded, but still won. The Lady Wildcats moved to 3-0 (2-0 district) with a 4-3 win while the Wildcats are 2-1 (1-1) after a 6-1 victory.

Singles winners for the Lady Wildcats were Colebank over Macie Dyer 6-1, 6-1; Davis over Priya Patel 7-6 (6), 7-5; Dillard over Bella Harper 4-6, 7-6 (1), 10-6 and Razziel Pena Agelvis over Abella Scruggs 6-1, 6-2.

Macon County winners were Grace Deckert over Cranor 6-0, 6-1; Deckert and Dyer over Cranor and Davis 8-0 and Patel and Harper over Dillard and Agelvis 8-3.

Wildcat singles winners were Sather over Ethan Sapp 6-7 (7), 6-2, 10-1; Udayakumar over Taylor Harper 2-6, 6-0, 10-4; Sorvick over Alex Sircy 8-1 and Lawrence over Liam Powell 6-2, 6-0.

Doubles winners were Sather and Udayakumar over Sapp and Isaac Smith 8-6 and Sorvick and Lawrence over Harper and Sircy 8-1.

Smith was Macon County's only winner, 0-6, 6-2, 10-3 over Ionita.

Both teams are playing in the inaugural Modern Woodmen Invitational this weekend at Wilson Central and Lebanon's Boyd-Rushing Courts. Central will host Mt. Juliet on Monday and travel to Gallatin on Wednesday.
