WHS softball moves to 2-0

Mar. 22—The Washington Hatchets softball team opened the home portion of the season with a 19-9 win over South Spencer on Thursday at the Sports Complex. The win moved WHS to 2-0 and 1-0 in the PAC, after also defeating Loogootee earlier in the week.

WHS got four hits and three RBIs from Katie Reed, Hayleigh Cummins added three RBIS, while Grace Hickey and London Gilley had two RBIs each, as WHS had 16 hits overall. Senior Allison Hill led with two stolen bases and Gilley scored three runs.

Mia Humphries picked up the win, going 4 2/3 innings with eight strikeouts and giving up three runs. Gilley came on in relief.

The Hatchets return to the diamond in a week after Spring Break.
