Sox recall Burdi from Charlotte for doubleheader originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

Ahead of Saturday''s doubleheader against the Orioles, the White Sox recalled reliever Zack Burdi from Triple-A Charlotte.

Burdi will serve as the club's 27th man for the doubleheader.

This marks Burdi's third stint with the White Sox this season, although the 26-year-old has only made one appearance. The right-hander allowed two runs (one earned) in three innings of an 11-4 loss to Boston last month.

The Sox also recalled Burdi last month when Dylan Cease landed on the injured list in a precautionary move after displaying COVID-19 symptoms, although he didn't make an appearance during that stint.

Burdi, a Downers Grove native and 2016 first-round pick, started the season at the Schaumburg alternate site. He's allowed three earned runs in 6 1/3 innings with Charlotte this season, striking out 11.
