The best baseball players are convening on South Florida to conclude a World Cup style tournament that has spanned the globe.

The World Baseball Classic is back for the first time since 2017 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2023 edition also marks the first time powerhouse Cuba is fielding major-league players and the first time Miami will host the championship game.

The WBC has already has its share of incredible moments. Shohei Ohtani has been throwing heat and hitting bombs for Japan. Puerto Rico eliminated tournament favorite Dominican Republic only for closer Edwin Diaz to tear a tendon in his knee in the postgame celebration, likely ending his season before the New York Mets could get to Opening Day.

Puerto Rico still has a host of MLB players on its roster, and Francisco Lindor and Javier Baez can lead the team to the semifinals with a win over Julio Urias, Randy Arozarena and Mexico.

Oh right, and there's the star-studded Team USA, led by Mike Trout, Mookie Betts and reigning NL MVP Paul Goldschmidt. They will bat first in their quarterfinal against Venezuela because Jose Altuve, Ronald Acuña and company have yet to lose in the tournament.
