The Vikings were embarrassed on Christmas by the Saints and fell to 6-9 on the season. For the second time in three seasons, Minnesota will miss the postseason.

We can discuss later whether or not Mike Zimmer or Rick Spielman will be back, but for now, let’s answer where the Vikings will draft in the upcoming draft.

If the season ended today (Dec. 26), the Vikings would draft 14th overall.

However, depending on how teams like Denver, San Francisco, Detroit, New York (Giants), Los Angeles (Chargers) and Dallas do in the final two weeks, the Vikings could see themselves in the top-10 if they also lose to the Lions in Week 17.

If the Vikings were to beat the Lions in Week 17, the farthest they could fall is 17th.

If you’re Spielman, you probably wouldn’t mind if most of the backups suited up in Week 17 — which is something that has been the norm for the defense over the last few weeks.
