Where Chiefs stand in AFC West after Week 9

The AFC West is one of the most competitive divisions in the NFL, and the Kansas City Chiefs remain in the thick of that competition after their defensive victory over the Green Bay Packers.

Take a look at the AFC West standings following Week 9:

  1. Los Angeles Chargers (5-3)

  2. Las Vegas Raiders (5-3)

  3. Kansas City Chiefs (5-4)

  4. Denver Broncos (5-4)

All AFC West teams are above .500 and still very much in contention for the division crown. The Raiders’ unexpected loss against the New York Giants makes them only a half game above Kansas City, while wins from the Broncos and Chargers kept the division race tight.

Despite their woes through the first half of the season, the Chiefs still control their own destiny in the AFC West battle. They’ll travel to Las Vegas in Week 10 to take on the Raiders in “Sunday Night Football,” where a win could put the Chiefs in first place in the AFC West if the Chargers lose to the Minnesota Vikings.

Meanwhile, the Broncos will face off against the Philadelphia Eagles next week. The Chiefs take on the Broncos in Week 13 which will give them a chance to create some more separation in the standings.
