Westview middle schooler shines at NASP Archery State meet

Mar. 13—Westview eighth grader, Lex Thompson is continuing an excellent year following a success performance at the latest National Archery in the Schools Program State competition this past weekend.

Thompson competed in two events at the meet, the bullseye and 3D event which mimics a real-world experience rather than regular targets.

In the bullseye portion, Thompson scored a 286 out of 300 and positioned him third out of a large 506-competitor field. In the 3D event, Thompson finished with a score of 275 out of 300, placing him ninth in a more compact 131-person field.

Out of 1,118 competitors, Thompson ranked 23rd, qualifying him for Eastern Nationals in May. The Westview team is coached by Jason Stacy.
