Feb. 5—MONROE — Jacob Wendt posted a double-double, but the PCM boys basketball team made more 3-pointers than free throws during a 55-49 home loss to South Hamilton on Friday.
The Mustangs outscored the Hawks in the middle two quarters but couldn't overcome a 17-11 disadvantage in the first and a deficit in the fourth during the Heart of Iowa Athletic Conference contest.
Wendt's double-double included 11 points and 12 rebounds and he dished out three assists.

Cutler VandeLune put in a team-best 12 points, Gavin Van Gorp added 11 points, three rebounds and two assists and Mark Bussan collected eight points and seven boards off the bench.
Jack Jungling tallied six points, nine rebounds and two steals, Kaleb DeVries registered eight assists, three rebounds and two steals and Gavin Steenhoek swiped two steals.
The Mustangs (9-10, 6-7 in the HOIAC) shot 33 percent from the floor, made 7-of-30 from 3-point range and connected on 2-of-8 from the free-throw line. They also turned the ball over 15 times.
South Hamilton improved to 16-2 and 11-2 in the conference.
