Welcome to Hearthstone Deck Test!

Taylor Cocke

Now that Whispers of the Old Gods has officially turned Hearthstone on its ear, new decks are popping up left and right. So, we decided to give a few of the more interesting pro-designed ones a shot.

For our debut Deck Test series, we picked three doozies: Trump’s C’Thun Druid, NickChipper’s Midrange Hunter, and Twobier’s Murloc Aggro Paladin. Let’s take a look!

Trump’s C’Thun Druid

Trump designed this C’Thun-focused deck before Whispers even launched, and yet the list seems extremely solid regardless. We’d change a few things out (Klaxxi Amber-Weaver seems somewhat weak in our initial testing), but it’s certainly a good start for the ramping class.

NickChipper’s Midrange Hunter

Midrange Hunter has always been the lesser of the Hunter archetypes (ugh, Face Hunter), but Whispers of the Old Gods has given the deck a few tools to make its way to the top of the ladder. Notably, Princess Huhuran and Infested Wolf have joined the Hunter Deathrattle ranks to get insane value. This deck needs a few tweaks to be truly top tier, but it’s definitely on its way.

Twobier’s Murloc Aggro Paladin

Will Murlocs make a run at becoming a truly meta deck? Whispers of the Old Gods has some seriously good Murloc additions, after all. Well, uh, probably not. As always, Murlocs are a great time to play, but decidedly run out of steam if you don’t manage to get a massive lead in the early turns of the game. But hey, mrglrulgururrrrlglglrl.

Taylor Cocke plans to continue playing Murlocs until the end of time, even if it means being stuck at rank 20 forever. Follow him on Twitter @taylorcocke.
