Week 1 Fantasy Football Bad Beats: When the Packers don't act like the Packers

Did you suffer a devastating loss in Week 1 courtesy of Aaron Rodgers and the lifeless Green Bay Packers offense?

Well, we here at Yahoo Fantasy are here for you, yet again, and always. We want to know all about it (so we can laugh at you) so we can help you get through it. Judge Andy Behrens can assist you through these troubled times, in Week 1 and every week of the 2021 fantasy football season.

But as far as NFL opening weekend Bad Beats are concerned, the Week 1 whiff from Aaron Rodgers and company was truly frustrating for fan Sgt. Foxx (and many others). Not only was his squad relying on three Packers to pull their weight, he also left a slew of overachievers on his bench.

This week’s Honorable Mention goes to our pal Bob and everyone left suffering in the wake of Lamar Jackson's two fumbles during a wild Monday Night Football matchup vs. the Raiders.

ANDY BEHRENS: Yeah. Football is back, and you know what that means. That means that devastating, soul-crushing fantasy losses are also back. This right here is the segment where we talk about the most agonizing, heartbreaking losses in your fantasy lives. This is Fantasy Bad Beats.

Oh, opening week had a little bit of everything. At least, for this segment's purposes. We had negated touchdowns. We had kneel downs that led to Fantasy losses. We had a Monday night game that went to overtime, and bad things happened. Oh. But probably, I would say conservatively, 75% of the Bad Beats submissions this week. They had to do with the Green Bay Packers.

The offensive juggernaut that put up all of three points in opening week, on a neutral site, against the New Orleans Saints. A defense that had plenty of questions. Aaron Rodgers came out in perhaps not his best effort. In some fantasy formats, he put up one point, three points, four points. There's almost no format in which he scored even double digit points. It was a terrible game by Rodgers. They can probably write it off and bounce back from it. They've got Detroit coming up. But fantasy managers, you're stuck with that L.

And wow, did we hear from you. Probably the finest example of a Packers-related defeat that we saw came from SgtFoxx. Oh, SgtFoxx thought they were pretty smart when they put together this Packers stack. It's Rodgers. It's Davante. It's Aaron Jones. It's the whole party. Maybe Mason Crosby is in there as well. Just a brutal, brutal performance from the Packers.

All three of those players combined for fewer than 30 fantasy points in this format. And the great thing about this beatdown is that their bench just blew up. That's just another fantastic way to lose. So we look at the bench here. Oh, there's Trevor Lawrence massively outscoring Rodgers. Three touchdowns, three picks. Wasn't a perfect game, but it was a good fantasy day. Oh, there's Kareem Hunt putting up almost two dozen fantasy points. And then there's Tyler Lockett with a week in which he just absolutely went supernova. Easily outscoring almost everybody in the starting lineup.

Really sorry about this, SgtFoxx. But this is just a masterful Bad Beat. This is exactly what we're looking for. Dishonorable mention this week. Shout out to people who lost in the same fashion that I did in a few leagues. And that was to Lamar Jackson's multiple fumbles. A little bit uncomfortable. Here's Bob. Bob lost by a fraction of a point in overtime on Monday night. The Lamar fumble. That's a minus four. That's an L. That's really rough, Bob. It's rough for all of us.

Still though, I'm so content. I'm a Bears fan. I've been losing to the Packers my whole life. It's kind of nice to see the rest of you actually feel the sting of Packers pain right now. As well.
