WC men's golf finishes third at Oakwood

Mar. 22—In a field packed with top teams, the Weatherford College men's golf team finished in third place out of 16 at the Oakwood Intercollegiate at Oakwood Country Club in Enid, Oklahoma.

WC was in first place after the first two rounds Monday (295 and 291), but a total of 302 on the third and final round Tuesday dropped the Coyotes to third place, finishing 36 strokes over par. Hutchinson (Kansas) Community College, ranked No. 5 in the nation according to, won the tournament at 24 over.

Weatherford out-played multiple nationally ranked squads, including host team and No. 10-ranked Dodge City (Kansas) Community College (finished fifth) and No. 15 Iowa Western Community College (finished fourth). WC is ranked No. 13 in the latest poll.

Emil Lovstrup of Denmark was Weatherford's top individual, finishing tied for sixth place at 5-over (73-75-70). Aledo High School graduate Braylon Mahanay was eleventh at 7-over (74-70-76).
