Watch: Warriors’ Steve Kerr delivers emotional response to Texas school shooting

On Tuesday, the Golden State Warriors were set to meet the Dallas Mavericks in Game 4 of the Western Conference finals. However, before the game was set to tip-off, Steve Kerr rightfully didn’t want to talk about basketball.

Just around 350 miles from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, an 18-year-old gunman killed 19 children and two teachers at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, Texas. During his pregame press availability, the Warriors coach addressed Tuesday’s tragedy in Uvalde.

For almost three minutes, Kerr delivered an impassioned plea to senators and lawmakers to take action on gun control. “When are we going to do something?” Kerr emotionally asked as he slammed his fists to the table in frustration and sadness.

I’m tired. I’m so tired of getting up here and offering condolences to the devastated families that are out there. I’m so tired. Excuse me. I’m sorry. I’m tired of the moments of silence. Enough.

Before ending his moving speech, Kerr had a message for anyone listening to him speak on Tuesday evening.

So I’m fed up. I’ve had enough. We’re going to play the game tonight. But I want every person here, every person listening to this, to think about your own child or grandchild, mother or father, sister, brother. How would you feel if this happened to you today?

We can’t get numb to this. We can’t sit here and just read about it and go, well, let’s have a moment of silence. Go Dubs. C’mon, Mavs, let’s go. That’s what we’re going to do. We’re going to go play a basketball game.
