While it was not the prettiest win over TCU, the Longhorns left Dallas victorious.
The passing game for Texas was in a major rut as passes were being dropped and throws were being missed, but when it came down to crunch time Bijan Robinson was there to save the day.
Robinson carried the ball a career high 35 times for 216 yards rushing and two touchdowns. His elusiveness helped the offense navigate down the field in a way that Casey Thompson and the passing game were simply unable to do so.
The team was able to pull out a 32-27 win over TCU in what was their first road win, which also ended the Horned Frogs’ winning streak agains Texas. Some Longhorns players celebrated in emphatic fashion after the game by waving the Texas flag around. It was likely inspired by the anger it caused Gary Patterson when SMU did it the week prior.
The defense and special teams both had bright spots that put the offense in position to score from the red zone, but the Longhorns had four drives in TCU territory end with a field goal. Nonetheless a win is a win, and now Texas is on to their most important game left on the schedule as they battle their heated rival, Oklahoma, in the Red River Showdown.
Both teams are now ranked as the Longhorns came in at No. 21 in the most recent AP Poll, and Oklahoma remained as the No. 6 team in the nation. Oklahoma is looking very fragile these days, as they narrowly have escaped Nebraska, West Virginia, and Kansas State by seven or less points in their last three wins.
The Longhorns have a reason to have some confidence, but should not let their recent success fill their heads up otherwise Steve Sarkisian will be starting his career off 0-1 against Oklahoma as the Texas head coach.
