How to watch and stream KC Royals games in 2023, including new option for cord-cutters

Fans will notice some changes when they tune in or stream a Royals game this season.

While Ryan Lefebvre will continue to call most games for Bally Sports Kansas City, Jake Eisenberg has replaced the retired Steve Phyisoc and will take over for Lefebvre when he moves to the radio booth on certain days.

Eisenberg was the radio voice of the Royals’ Triple-A affiliate in Omaha, and he will mainly call games with Denny Matthews on radio.

Rex Hudler returns as the television analyst, and former Royals closer Jeff Montgomery and Joel Goldberg will provide analysis and news updates.

Royals Hall of Famer Mike Sweeney and former KC pitcher Jeremy Guthrie will be on select pre-game and postgame shows, and they’ll sometimes provide analysis during a game.

Although Diamond Sports Group, a subsidiary of Sinclair Broadcast Group which owns Bally Sports Kansas City, filed for bankruptcy protection earlier this month, the games will be televised and streamed as usual.

Here is how fans can watch when the Royals play on Bally Sports KC, which will broadcast 158 games this season.

Streaming options

For Royals fans who no longer have cable, there are three ways they can stream games, including a new option for 2023.

FuboTV added Bally Sports Kansas City this year in the streaming service’s “Pro” package. There is a free trial if fans want to try it. Bally Sports KC is one of 158 channels in the package and the cost is $74.99 a month.

DirecTV Stream offers Bally Sports KC on its “Choice” package. That has 105 channels in all and costs $99.99 a month. There is also a free trial.

Bally Sports+ is an option for fans who only want Royals games. The cost is $19.99 a month and doesn’t require a cable subscription. A seven-day free trial is available. Games can be viewed on the Bally Sports app or at BallySports.com.

Cable options

Bally Sports KC said its network is available to viewers who have one on these cable services in the Kansas City area: AT&T U-verse, Consolidated, DirecTV, MidCo, Optimum, Spectrum and Xfinity.

Outside of Kansas City, the network said it can be seen on these cable providers (when not subject to blackout restrictions): Cox, DirecTV, Fidelity, Mediacom, Sparklight and Suddenlink.
