Watch Sharks' Logan Couture lose faceoff but score on nutty Kraken own goal

Watch Sharks' Couture 'score' on nutty Kraken own goal originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

Logan Couture picked up his 20th goal of the season in unique fashion Monday during the Sharks' 4-0 win over the Seattle Kraken.

Around 11 minutes into the second period, Couture lost a faceoff to Kraken center Yanni Gourde, who swiped at the puck in an attempt to pass it back to a teammate. However, the puck danced between the legs of Seattle defenseman Vince Dunn and snuck past goaltender Martin Jones for a one-of-a-kind own goal that gave San Jose a 1-0 lead.

While the box score credits Gourde with a faceoff win and Couture with an unassisted goal, the Sharks captain remembers the moment differently.

"I got the puck. I turned, I shot, and went off the crossbar," Couture jokingly said after the game [h/t Sheng Peng].

"I wasn't quite sure what happened," Sharks forward Noah Gregor said on "Sharks Postgame Live" to NBC Sports California's Brodie Brazil and Tara Slone. "I had to watch the replay a couple of times.

"I'm sure Couture will take those."

The goal secured Couture's 10th career 20-goal season and his second in his last four campaigns. He's the second Sharks player to achieve that milestone this season along with forward Timo Meier, who was sidelined Monday with an upper body injury.

When all is said and done this season, Couture's strange goal will count the same as a blue-line snipe.
