How to watch Dolphins vs. Patriots in Week 1 originally appeared on NBC Sports Boston

The New England Patriots are beginning the 2021 NFL season with a fresh slate and a brand new quarterback.

Bill Belichick sent shockwaves through the league when he cut Cam Newton at the end of August, making No. 15 overall draft pick Mac Jones the man in charge under center. The rookie QB had an impressive training camp and preseason, showing enough to usurp the incumbent starter in Newton.

Jones isn’t the only fresh face for the Patriots heading into the 2021 season. Belichick and owner Robert Kraft broke out the checkbook in free agency, reeling in pass rusher pass rusher Matt Judon, tight end Jonnu Smith, tight end Hunter Henry, wide receiver Nelson Agholor, wide receiver Kendrick Bourne and more to overhaul a roster lacking in talent last season.

On top of that, the Patriots will also have some familiar faces back on the field this season. Linebacker Dont’a Hightower returns to the fold after opting out of the 2020 campaign, while Trent Brown is back on the offensive line after spending two years with the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Patriots start their season at home against the Miami Dolphins in Week 1. The game marks the return of fans at Gillette Stadium for the regular season after the Pats played in an empty home stadium throughout 2020. It will also pin Jones up against his former Alabama teammate, Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.
