Watch: Oregon State implodes part of football stadium for renovations

Oregon State hosted an implosion on the west side of Reser Stadium on Friday morning.

The implosion is part of a $153 million upgrade project at the stadium.

“The implosion of the westside stadium is all about safety for project contractors and community members,” Oregon State vice president for university relations and marketing Steve Clark said in a statement.

Once renovations are complete, the west side of Reser Stadium will contain premium and general seating options that the school says "will provide the closest proximity to the playing field of any college football stadium in the country."

It also will include a 360-degree stadium concourse, expanded concessions and restroom facilities, enhanced sightlines, accessibility improvements and other fan amenities comparable to the east side of Reser, which was renovated prior to the 2005 season.
