After a closer-than-expected overtime win over Florida State in its 2021 opener, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish face Toledo on Saturday in their first home game with fans at 100% capacity since 2019.
Last week, quarterback Jack Coan threw for 366 yards (26 of 35) and four touchdowns, but the Irish only managed 65 rushing yards to Florida State’s 264. The Seminoles came back from an 18-point deficit to send the game to overtime, where Notre Dame kicker Jonathan Doerer made a 41-yard field goal on the second possession to seal the win.
Toledo beat Norfolk State 49-10 in its first game last week. The Rockets had two touchdowns on punt returns and four rushing touchdowns, but will likely find themselves overmatched against No. 8 Notre Dame.
