WATCH: Matthew McConaughey pumps up Longhorn nation prior to Oklahoma game

The Longhorns are one sleep away from playing in what will be the most important game of the season.

No. 21 Texas will square off against their most hated rival, No. 6 Oklahoma, in the Red River Showdown on Oct. 9 at 11 a.m. CDT at the Cotton Bowl.

The Sooners are currently on a three-game win streak against the Longhorns, and are looking to regain some national respect as the team has not looked nearly as dominant as many thought they would.

Texas is obviously still looking to be “back”, and part of being back is beating Oklahoma and contending for the Big 12 title. With a win on Saturday, the Longhorns would surely fly up the polls and put themselves in good position to contend for a conference title for the first time since 2018.

The team and fan base are well aware of the implications that coincide with this game, which is why Texas’ minister of culture Matthew McConaughey delivered a hype video to Longhorn nation on Thursday.

This would be a critical win in Steve Sarkisian’s first season, and McConaughey is making sure that all of Longhorn nation is behind him and the team for the big game.
