"This is my forst camp (Illinois State) this summer," Cotton said. "It's been a good camp. They had good competition in one on ones and I felt I performed pretty well. I was able to talk to some of the Illinois State coaches after the camp and they said they wanted me to come back and visit them this fall for a game."
Cotton also recapped his latest recruiting news.
"I've been gotten interest from Michigan, Iowa State, NIU, Arizona State, Illinois State and just a lot of schools located in the Midwest. I don't have any other visits or camps planned for the rest of the summer. I've been in team camp working hard and just staying focused on my team and then my season."
Cotton has also continued to train and improve his overall quarterbacking skills this summer.
"I've been working with Coach Greg (Holcomb) and Next Level now for about a year. I've been working on just being more patience in the pocket. I tend to rely on my arm strength too much and I'm trying to let the play develop more and rely on forcing the football into tight spots less."
Cotton is also excited for his upcoming junior season.
"Our team camp has been going well. We've been getting a lot of kids out for football and everyone has been working hard. We have a lot of talented guys and a lot of young guys too. We are also getting a new field this year with blue turf and everyone is excited about that too."
Darrin Cotton has scholarship offers from Jackson State and Mississippi Valley State.
