St. Charles (Ill.) East sophomore offensive tackle prospect Dylan Barrett (6-foot-5, 270 pounds) is having a strong sophomore season on the Saints varsity. Barrett was able to make his first college game day visit to Miami of Ohio this past Saturday and recaps his impressions and much more here.
"I camped at Miami of Ohio last summer and I've stayed in touch with the coaches," Barrett said. "They invited me to come out to see a game and I went to Miami on Saturday when they played Bowling Green."
Barrett filled us in on his impressions from his first college day day recruit visit at the Home of the Redhawks.
"I was able to take a tour of the facilities at Miami of Ohio and we also took part in the recruit tailgate plus I was able to get on the field for the pregame warmups. I also had a chance to talk to some of the Miami of Ohio coaches. I was just really impressed with the facilities at Miami and I also really like the coaches. They also have a great looking campus and overall it was a great visit."
Has Barrett made any other college visits?
"Over the summer I visited and I also camped with Western Michigan. I've stayed in touch with a few of the Western Michigan coaches including offensive line coach Jake Moreland."
Barrett, who is in his second season on the Saints varsity talked about the biggest difference in his game so far this season.
"I just have more size and strength this year. I was 6-foot-4, 225 pounds freshman and now I'm a 6-foot-5, 270 pound sophomore. I just basically busted my butt in the weight room along with eating better and eating smarter. I also feel that my overall game is just better. I worked really hard on my feet and technique and I can feel the difference."
So does Barrett have a dream school?
"Notre Dame. I've always been a big fan of Notre Dame and I just have always watched them on TV since I was a little kid. They have a great tradition and it's also a great school."
