Watch: Generally stoic Jets coach Todd Bowles gets excited

Despite preseason chatter that his team could go 0-16, head coach Todd Bowles has led his New York Jets to five wins, including last week’s victory against the Kansas City Chiefs.

But one of Bowles’ signatures is his stoicism. He’s not really expressive in front of the media, and even on the sidelines more often than not he’s wearing a poker face.

On Friday, though, Bowles held his last press conference before the Jets travel to Denver to play the Broncos on Sunday, and reporters were treated to a rare excited outburst – and they brought it on themselves.

Media apparently didn’t have many questions, and even though Friday press conferences with Bowles are generally short, this week’s Friday huddle was even shorter than usual.

In the short clip above, you can hear a member of the team’s media staff ask, “All good?” and when another question didn’t come immediately, Bowles was really happy.

Really happy.

“Nice…new record. YES!,” he shouted, walking off the podium with a big smile.

NJ.com beat reporter Connor Hughes said Bowles continued expressing his glee even after he left the raised podium area; he had a hop in his step and yelled a few more times before disappearing from sight.
