Javon McKinley was Notre Dame’s leading receiver in 2020 but it took until the final regular-season game for him to find the end zone, something he did three times that day against Syracuse.

It took McKinley two preseason games in his NFL career with the Detroit Lions to find the end zone. McKinley did so Saturday as the Lions took on the Steelers in Pittsburgh.

The hosts jumped to a 23-0 lead over the Lions before Detroit made things interesting late. McKinley’s touchdown, a 10-yard reception, drew Detroit within 13 and they scored again late.

McKinley has three receptions this preseason for 50 yards and one touchdown as he continues to impress enough to earn a roster spot.
