How to Watch: Florida baseball vs Miami Hurricanes on Sunday

Florida baseball gets set to host the Miami Hurricanes on Sunday, March 45, in the rubber match of a three-game top-25 weekend home series between the two in-state rivals at Condron Family Ballpark in Gainesville, Florida, and if you’re wondering how you can watch the action live, you’ve come to the right place.

The Gators started the season with a three-game sweep of the visiting Charleston Southern Buccaneers but split a home-and-home with the South Florida Bulls that saw both teams win the away game during the week. The Orange and Blue bounced back from the USF loss with a sweep of the visiting Cincinnati Bearcats last weekend but then split another home-and-home with the Jacksonville Dolphins this week.

The Gators took the first game of the series, slugging their way to a 10-4 win over No. 22 Miami on Friday night before the Hurricanes evened things up on Saturday, 14-6.

Pitcher Notes

NOTES: Jac Caglianone didn’t have as good of an outing against Cincinnati as he did against Charleston Southern, but he still struck out six and hit three home runs after he came out of the game. Miami will be the toughest lineup he’s ever faced and a good test for him early on.

Alejandro Rosario has had a pair of strong starts to begin the year, but one was against Dartmouth. Still, he held Penn State to just two runs through 5 1/3, so he isn’t a weak link by any means. Command was a bit of an issue against the Nittany Lions, so Florida might want to be patient. — David Rosenberg

Other Players to Watch

Yohandy Morales is the top draft prospect on the Hurricanes. He’s one of the top power hitters in the country, finishing the 2022 season with .328 batting average and 1.058 on-base plus slugging percentage, 17 doubles, 18 home runs and 59 RBIs. Even the best pitchers in the nation want nothing to do with him. He already has four homers on the year and is slashing .424/.513/.879 through nine games.

Freshman Blake Cyr is another name to watch out for. He’s batting .440 through eight games and 28 plate appearances. He could be one of Miami’s next stars. CJ Kayfus is another draft prospect to watch out for. He can do a bit of everything with his bat.

All-American closer Andrew Walters is the bullpen arm to watch out for. Florida can keep him off the field by never allowing a save situation, though.

Prediction

GAME 3: Florida, 6-4

SERIES: The Gators shouldn’t cruise by Miami without some pushback, but Florida should be able to take the series. The Hurricanes are good, and they got to Hunter Barco a year ago, so it wouldn’t be shocking to see them hit Waldrep hard. Florida takes the series, 2-1.Rosenberg
