The workday following the Super Bowl is typically a tough one, but knowing there is another epic game this evening should get you through the day.

The No. 12 Oregon women’s basketball team will have the opportunity to right the ship against the No. 9 Arizona Wildcats on Monday night at Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene, Oregon.

The last time these two squads met up, the Ducks did not look like themselves for the full 40 minutes.

Flashback to that game in Tucson, Arizona back on January 14. The Oregon offense - which includes four players who can hit roughly 40% from 3PT range - was held to a season-low 41 points, scoring just seven in the first quarter and then five in the third.

Nyara Sabally was the only Duck to finish in double-figure scoring with 15 points in the 57-41 loss to the Wildcats.

Following the game, head coach Kelly Graves explained that he liked what he saw from his defense - which held a solid Arizona squad to 57 points - but it was the lack of energy and the turnovers (23) that haunted the team in the end.

Fast-forward to today and Oregon has played one game in the past week: a non-conference opponent UC Davis last Saturday. The previous games at Utah, at Colorado, and hosting Arizona State were postponed due to COVID-19 protocols.

Guards Taylor Chavez and Maddie Scherr will be unavailable for Monday’s contest - as they both were unavailable last Saturday - against the Wildcats.

“No. In fact, that’s a definitive no," he said when asked about their availability for Monday. "I don’t know when. I don’t even know if it’ll be the following week.

"We’ve got protocols of progression to come back and play. There are lots of things that we have to go through. I will always side with our doctors on that. We’ll never rush that."

This rematch between the Ducks and Wildcats should be a good one.
